here's what someone from the metal archives said of our debut EP:
Normally, one wouldn’t think of respectable metal coming out of America. Well here’s Todesfaust with their new EP, East of Eden, finally released after two years of work. And the work paid off. The artwork alone is perfect for the music (actually done by the vocalist, Murezor). For those who are wondering, yes, this is black metal – however it has not conformed to be “kvlt”, and once you listen, you will know that is what actually makes this album true. The overall sound quality is excellent for a demo. The bass drum could be a bit clearer though because sometimes it just sounds like rumbling in the background, not that there’s anything wrong with that. East of Eden is a nice keyboard track – just make sure your speakers can handle the bass. I’m not going to go into much detail about the rest of the album but here’s an overview for tracks 2,5, and 6. They are all very different from one another in terms of arrangement however, there is a musical theme here. Extremely symphonic indeed – Strings, horns, piano, choir - etc. Along with epic synth riffs and creative guitar work. The vocals are pure black metal and are a nice contrast to the rest of the album. Give this album a couple listens because there are a lot of subtle things happening. The drummer is very creative and it’s nice to not just hear blast beats all the time – in fact there are hardly any. Split time signatures can be found here and there. In track 5, Relinquishment of My Former God, Roanoz’s clean vocals come in very strangely and it doesn’t really sound great (probably the only true down-point of the album), but then he brings them back to par with the rest of the music and it sounds fine. A fine job by Roanoz is also done on the last track. Now to the somewhat obscure tracks on the album: Track 3, Tales of the Old Kingdom, actually sounds like powermetal for the first minute or so (think skymning/borknagar) but then readjusts and the drums once again go into a subtle creative pattern. Track 4, Dark Rites of the Mystic Order, is an instrumental. The music is still in the same key as the rest of the album but the atmosphere is completely changed. The bass is the main instrument and only one guitar which is barely heard plays as an accompaniment. Overall, we have an outstanding EP. Definitely worth picking up for these summarized reasons: mature music theory, singing which keeps the album true, creative drumming, and symphonic madness. In my opinion, there is no band that Todesfaust is comparable to because their sound is so unique as opposed to other artists. You will probably like this band if you like Emperor, Tvangeste, Bombensturm, Dark Fortress, Falkenbach, Summoning, and other keyboard driven black metal.

i appreciate it!
good luck for the future!
